They said it would be easy to install and it was a breeze. It took me about 35 minutes, working alone, to install the hitch. All of the holes lined up perfectly, the fish wire worked great and everything went together as promised. The quality of the hitch is excellent and it works great!

This hitch worked without a hitch, so to speak. Everything attached like clockwork because it was exactly to specifications and the kit included the unique fishing tools that allowed me to insert four pesky bolts and plated inside the CRV's framework with total ease. It was so easy that I wondered what I had done wrong because nothing should assemble that quickly.
I recommend this product to all and HitchSource to all my friends. You can't go wrong, unless you do so intentionally.

Excellent product. Installed easily. Instructions right on but would add following. Detach muffler from 3 points - 2 at rear of muffler and 1 in front by slipping the rubber holders off their connect points on the car and move muffler down enough to get to bolt entry points. Use a little soapy water to help the rubbers to slip and use method explained in instructions to get them off. I had to bend the rear rubber holder probes on the vehicle down slightly to prevent the muffler from rattling against the bolts after they were installed. I used a socket wrench and slipped it over the holder prob and bent them down approx 1/4 in.

The complete purchase process was great. Placing the order was simple, easy, and the hitch shipped very fast.

Total time to install: 1 hour. On a Honda CRV 2005.

Hints: Start on the drivers side first, installing the bolts w/ the wire tool, then, move on to the passenger side. This will make think allot easier. Also, make sure your "U" screw fits into the Hitch. My "U" did not being to wide, but, it was an easy fix. I placed a rug underneath the "U", on a "C" direction on the ground, then, covered the top w/ a towel, then, softly, hit the end w/ a mallet. I did this three times. After each hit, I would see how much more I needed to go, took three hits before it fit perfect. That was the only minor problem I encountered. This is a SOLID Hitch. Also, make sure to purchase Silicone spray or something similar, for the Muffler Hangers, makes the holders slide off with minimal effort. Also makes re-installing them a breeze.

Initially, I tried to do this install alone, trying to attach the "U" screw to hold the Hitch, then attach everything else, however, after I modified the "U" Hitch, my wife came and asked if she could help, I had the bolts in place, so all she did was hold one end up to the car body, while I attached the bolts by hand, then, I tightened the bolts alone. Recommended two people job for five minutes, then, the rest can be installed Solo.

I also love the wire tool. It works so incredibly easy, and efficient. Great idea!!!!

Can you call a hitch beautiful? This one is. Heavy duty construction, but with careful welds and rounded corners, all powder-coated with a gloss black finish. As others state, the holes lined up perfectly (2003 CR-V), installation was straightforward, fishwire worked great (straighten, then bend the last 2" to form a 90° 'L' with the coil on the long leg of the 'L'. Now, holding the coil end, fish the 2" short leg of the 'L' through big hole in the frame until it comes out the smaller target hole. Now, holding the 2" end, thread the washer and then the bolt on the coil end, and pull through the frame and out the target hole. For the big hole, thread the bolt and washer onto the wire, stuff them up into the hole and then pull them back down). Get the torque wrench in there before hanging the muffler back up (which it did without alteration).

Thanks - we paid to have this hitch installed by our mechanic (lowering the exhaust system is beyond our capabilities). But, the install only cost $84 so that was worth it. Looks nice. Since it was installed only yesterday I haven't had a chance to really try it out yet. The mechanic said it was a very good hitch.

HitchSource.com is the best! Super selection. Great Price. Lightening Fast Shipping. Ordered it Weds., had it that Friday. As for the hitch, it was exactly as described. Installed it by myself in a little over 40 minutes. 35 minutes may be cutting it a little too close. Fishwire is awesome, made inserting the spacers/bolts a breeze. As for the muffler hangers, take the advice that was written with previous reviews...use a little liquid wrench and they come right off/on. I couldn't be happier. Hitch is heavy duty and looks good too!

This hitch fit perfectly. The difficulty in mounting it was the instructions.

1. No guide on using the fish-wire. From my experience, I was able to figure out what to do, but it can be a problem.

2. This is definitely a 2-person installation. Trying to hold up the hitch and avoid pushing the bolts back up into the frame is very difficult. Plus, starting the nuts onto the bolts is not easy either.

I took a twist-tie and wrapped one around each of the bolts as close to the frame as possible to keep the bolts from going back into the frame. Once the bolt was through the hole, I pulled on the wire-tie to help keep the bolt from spinning while I threaded on the nut.

I then removed the twist ties befoe tightening the nuts.

I made the mistake of tightening everything before checking the alignment of the car's towing loop with the center U-bolt holes. I had to loosen everything then move the hitch over about an 1/8 of an inch to get it to align.

Overall I am very pleased with the product and feel confident it will serve me well for as long as I own the car.

Best price on the internet, by the way.

This hitch went on without a hitch. Installation took only minutes. Not only were all of the parts in the box, the holes in the CR-V frame and the hitch lined up perfectly, the fishwire worked well and the directions were spot on.

Shipping was remarkably FAST. No Damage. Instructions a bit too generic. Step 5 should be done before step 4

Note to CRV owners - The terminology and pictures of the frame holes in the instructions do not match the CRV frame. The hitch fits fine, but make sure you use the large frame hole and the smaller one towards the rear of the car. The "front" frame hole is not used. I noticed my mistake afterward and spent a bit of time trying to "unfish" the hardware out of it.

Also, I installed this hitch by myself and it is very unwieldy to match it up to the hardware that is danging out of the holes. I found that if you attach the hitch to the tow hook using the u-bolt first (Step 5). the hitch hangs nicely and is easy then to align to the hardware on the frame...

So many great things to say about the shipping (super fast delivery), ease of ordering. What a great idea of using the fishwire to install the hitch bolts in to the frame members. All the bolts lined up perfectly, no problems with hitch interfering with exhaust pipe or muffler. Install time 30 mins (might have been faster had the wife not been helping??) Great price and quality of manufacturing and workmanship. Most definitely will recommend HitchSource to my friends.

The hitch arrived in no time. Great looking hitch. Installation on the first try was frustrating as the holes did not line up with the bolts that I fishwired in place. Then I looked at the hitch and one of the arms was bent in over an inch. The box was damaged during shipment and part of the hitch was sticking out. Obviously it was dropped and caused the bend in one of the arms. After reading a review on which someone else had the same problem and used a handyman jack to bend the one arm back in place I did the same and it worked.

Had to cut old bolts on my frame rails from a previous owners installation of a different hitch. If there was never a hitch on the vehicle before than this hitch would have been installed in about 20minutes. I'm very happy with this product.

I was able to install this hitch in about 45 minutes all by myself. A few tips: The muffler on my 2004 CRV is held in place by 2 rubber hangers. Use a spray lubricant like Liquid Wrench silicone spray to detach the hangers. Believe me, it will save you much aggravation. You don't have to screw the bolts all the way onto to fish wire, maybe 3 full turns will be fine. After you get all 4 bolt positioned, and the hitch in place, before you tighten the nuts down, install the U bolt. A little play in the hitch will help you thread the U bolt. I made the mistake of tightening down all 4 main bolts then trying to install the U bolt. It just barely wouldn't thread. I had to loosen all 4 bolts to get the U bolt to match up. When I re-attached the muffler, the top of the muffler now touches one the mounting bolts. At ilde I notice the muffler is vibrating against the nut. The hitch appears to be very sturdy and for the price and ease of installation, it's a fantastic deal. Hitchsource.com rules!

** HitchSource Response **
It is rare for the nut to touch the muffler, but when it does, you can usually bend the exhaust hanger slightly to resolve it. Each vehicle is assembled slightly differently and occasionally the tolerances add up, so your hanger is probably just a little tight.

I received the trailer hitch and when we went to install it the left side was bent in about one inch don't know if it was damaged in shipping or it could had been bent when it was welded. It took some time with a bar but we got it on the frame.

This is a nice hitch, works well on my CRV. The only issue I had with it was that UPS managed to bend the right side chassis arm inward about 1". After pushing it back out with a jack the hitch installed fine.

Excellent quality and price. Great fit.

Tip: To fishwire the second bolt on a CRV:
Put your bolt and spacer on the fishwire, insert the bolt/spacer in the hole FIRST, then pull it back down through. Seems simple, but it took me 10 min. to figure that out at the time!

Excellent, quality hitch. Good instructions. I'm not the most handy guy in the world, and I still was able to do it. Read the advice on here. I'll just add a couple of points. You might want to try fishing the bolts on the driver's side first, as you will have more room to work on that side then on the muffler side. Get experience with the process on the easy side first. Second, the fish hook thing IS great, but I'll warn you not to thread it all the way and tight on the bolt. I did because I was paranoid about it coming off the bolt when threading it in place, and losing a bolt up in the frame. But then when I got it through, I had to pull it back out because I couldn't get the fish hook unthreaded off the bolt. Really, 3 to 4 turns of it on the bolt will hold it very well.

Great product and spectacularly fast shipping.

Great hitch!! This was the second Curt hitch I have owned-installed. The first CR-V was totaled and the insurance payed more for the towing package than I payed for the hitch and shipping! Installs in less than 25 min.

A helpful hint for installing. Once you get the bolts placed in the frame, tape a piece of string or fishing line around the bolt that is long enough to guide the bolt back through the hitch. Placing the hitch up to the frame is likely to push one or more of the bolts back up into the frame.

Installed on a 2005 CR-V.

Very easy installation - the most difficult part was unhooking the exhaust hangers. You'll want to have various length socket extensions for the torque wrench as there's limited clear space between the muffler and bumper to fit the wrench. Worked perfectly when hauling 4 bicycles down to North Carolina. Great hitch at a great price.

Received the hitch very quickly. Installation on the CRV was a snap. The hardest part was getting the exhaust hangers off, but a little silicone spray on each of the hangers made things real easy. Not being an expert, I think it took closer to 45 - 50 minutes rather than 30, but for the $100+ saved by doing it myself, well worth it.

Hitch looks really good on my CRV. Also I had no trouble installing it all by myself. It fits perfectly and attaches very solidly to the frame the car. Can't be any happier about it.

I had some frustration because of HitchSource confirmed address shipment policy and trouble contacting them by phone but was able to get a line after two days. Once contacted their customer service was very competent and professional. Also shipment was made quickly once their annoying policy worked around.

I have installed four or five hitches in the past. This was absolutely the easiest. The fish wire is so simple to use!! It is the product of a genius. (why didn't I think of that?) The instructions didn't talk much about how to remove the muffler hangers. If you push the rubber hanger device over the barbed end of the hanger rod attached to the frame, it comes off pretty easy. I used the flat surface of a screwdriver blade to help it along. Be careful not to cut or damage the rubber with the screwdriver tip.

Great hitch, quick install, great price!

For the 2007 CR-V. This is the best design and configuration for this car. This hitch fit well and had good install instructions. The great thing about this hitch, The receiver pushes out and up which give much more ground clearance. All other hitch design hang down below the tiedown hook.
