FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! It probably would have went a lot smoother had my husband followed all the directions. He followed everything but removing the heat shield. Took him almost an hour to install but it is on and everything lined up perfectly in the end. Lots of pushing and choice words were involved but a very satisfied customer altogether.

Went on just as described. Took about 1hr. 15min. Most of that time was spent cleaning the bolt holes on the KIA and lining up and cutting the heat shield on the KIA. The Curt hitch required no special time at all. It fits like a glove, BTW.

I received the hitch within a few days of ordering it -- which was a very pleasant surprise -- and shortly thereafter installed it on my 2012 Kia Sorento LX. I think that following the instructions is key along with knowing that it will fit. While its easiest if you enlist the help of a friend, I didn't so I found it best to completely remove the spare tire and to remove the exhaust from its hangers and to lower it as much as possible. It took me maybe 45 minutes to complete the job as I found that there was no need to cut the facia. It looks as good as a factory install unit. I am very pleased with the results.

This is a quality hitch. You have to cut the heat shield as it states in the instructions or it will not fit. Also, just drop the spire tire enough to move it in place and then crank the tire back up in place. I did not have to ream out the factory holes, just tapped the top bolts and they went right through. Hope this is helpful.

This Curt hitch was fairly easy to install. The instructions are straight-forward and I was able to make it a one-man job by jacking up the back of my Sorento about 8 inches or so and resting it on jack stands in front of the rear wheels. This way, even though the heavy hitch would normally be difficult to hold up in position, I was able to lie on my back with my head under the passenger side attachment point and my knees under the driver's side attachment point with the hitch resting along the length of my body. I held up one side with my hands and the other side with my knees while I got the bolts started on the passenger side (I had already lowered the muffler and trimmed and re-installed the heat shield). I then turned around and got the bolts started on the driver's side - this required some prying with a large screw driver in order to line up the bolt holes because I did not lower the spare tire and the hitch pushes against and compresses the rubber on the spare tire. Before fully tightening the 2 small vertical bolts on each side, I pushed the large horizontal bolt through the hole in the hitch and through the holes in the frame on each side and attached the large nuts to each of them - no drilling was necessary as the frame holes were large enough. I then tightened up all the bolts and re-attached the 3 rubber mounts to the muffler hangers and the hitch part of the job was finished. I found that a fair bit of force was required to detach and reattach the rubber muffler mounts and a pair of pliers and a large screw driver made the job much easier than using your fingers alone. The whole job took about 45 minutes. The installed Curt hitch is almost invisible because all you can see are the small black 2" box opening about a quarter inch below the black rear bumper and a little bit of the round black tubes on either side - the rest of the hitch is out of sight. It has a much more factory-installed look than the U-haul, Draw-Tight, and Hidden hitches that use square tubes that pass under the muffler and can be seen hanging under the car from one side to the other. In my opinion, they ruin the appearance of the rear of the 2011 Sorento.

Hitch mounted rather easily. No drilling is needed on the 2011 KIA Sorento V6. Most difficult part of the install was removing the exhaust hangers. A spray of WD 40 solved that.
