Delivered next day despite the order was placed in the evening! Solid piece of aluminium with steel main beam, very lightweight yet durable. I prefer this over all steel "Curt Cargo Carrier 18151" because of weight savings.

I purchased this rack after using my brother in law's all steel version to carry everything from a Christmas tree to large game. In other words, items you dislike tossing into your vehicle! For a few extra dollars, I think the aluminum version is the ticket! It has an unexpected feature in that it allows you to pivot the rack vertically 90 degrees for easy transport when you aren't carrying anything. As a result, I can leave it attached to my vehicle in the garage and I don't have to negotiate the extra length it otherwise adds to your vehicle in tight spots! A few things to be aware of: The rack isn't 100% aluminum. The main support beam and lower support brackets are steel, painted silver. The rack will move slightly (left/right) due to the standard tolerances allowed between the receiver and attaching item. Buy the optional receiver bolt kit if this is an issue for you. The bottom is made from aluminum mesh. Perfect for flat bottom items (coolers, boxes) Not great if you drop a heavy boat anchor on it. It wasn't designed for that so don't expect it to last if you do. The sides on this rack are a few inches high. Perfect as a 'carry all' rack but I recommend tie downs for your boxes/coolers. If your primary use is for a cooler, I would buy a high sided rack so you don't have to use tie downs. Tools (socket/wrench) are required for assembly. For the price and features offered, I would buy this rack again in a heartbeat.

First of all, I called HitchSource and asked a question about shipping because I needed the carrier quickly. The person I spoke with (wish I could remember name) told me he'd watch for my order and possibly get it sent out that day and it should arrive next day (shipping was free!). I ordered carrier online, it arrived as stated, it was easy to put together, light weight, and worked perfectly for an over 3,000 mile road trip with full cooler, gear box, and folded dog cage on it. There are pleanty of holes on raised edges to secure straps and bungee chords, and I added reflectorized strips to make it more visible to traffic. When not it use, which was rare, it folded up nicely to shorten the overall length of vehicle. I would highly recomend the carrier and HitchSource.com.

Best one I've seen and I looked at many. Light weight & better than other aluminum rack I replaced. Customers with low car like mine might want to also buy a hitch receiver extender/riser to get more clearance from trunk and more elevation from the road. Free shipping was appreciated and I didn't expect to receive it overnight. My best online purchase experience!

The cargo carrier and hitch locks were for a birthday present for my daughter. I found HitchSource.com on line. Left a message on their voice mail which was returned promptly the next morning. I ordered the products which came a day sooner than expected with absolutely no problems at all.
