2010 subaru outback 2" receiver curt trailer hitch.

Do not cut the muffler heat shield. You can make a couple 2" cuts with tin snips when the install is about finished, and fit it over the nuts/bolts. No need to trim away ANY heat shield.

The fish wire works way better than I thought it could. Drill carefully, be neat. I used NASA silicone heat shield lubricant for the rubber muffler mounts. Worked great, slid right off, then later back on. Spray silicone would be fine.

The CURT directions are really good- but if you think about it, move slowly, and observe the way things fit- it will make things simple and easy. I also used John Deere tractor anti-rust paint to paint the drilled holes. Less rust on my car... and I used 50 yr silicone sealant to plug all holes, when I finished.

Looks great- and no bumper cutting as in the Subaru Dealer mount. Also- I do not haul BIG loads, but have a bunch of accessories that fit 2" receivers.... this hitch has a 2" receiver. I love it for the fit- NOT the load capacity, which my car will not pull.
