Received my hitch in a timely manner with all hardware . It fit fine. You have to lower the exhaust which was easy by sliding the rubber hangers off in two places. It is a good idea to clean the threads in the frame with a tap, a little challenge by the muffler.

Bought this thing after reading the reviews and agree with all the positive said about it.
It took me 1.5 hours to install it by myself (a total of 2 hands) at night but in all fairness, it took me about 3 hours to put together an Ikea desk so no, I'm NOT the standard.

Here are a few suggestions I can give:
1) It's possible to do it alone but a second pair of hands would have saved me a good 30 minutes!
2) Spray a little soap water on the exhaust hangers and they come of very easily (could have saved 20 minutes and a t-shirt had I done this right away).
3) Be patient and exact when screwing the bolts into the frame. I suggest you do it once without the hitch so that you don't spend 30 minutes cursing the world because aligning the bolt with the hitch and the frame is quite the surgical procedure.

I did feel accomplished once I figured everything out and if I can do, so can you!

Would I do it again? Absolutely!

The hitch and wire harness installed very easy on our 2008 CRV this is a well built hitch. The only suggestion I have for those of you installing this on a vehicle that has been through a winter or two have a 10mm tap on hand to retap the holes for the 10mm bolts as this well make the install so much faster with the holes retapped. I did this so the bolts went in as though it was a new vehicle and with ease.

My comments are for installation only. I haven't used the hitch yet, although it looks plenty study and well-made.

Installation onto my 2011 CR-V LX was a breeze. Maybe 40 minutes from start to finish, including about 10 minutes wasted trying to attach the U-bolt first. I didn't have a rack or ramps, so holding the hitch while lying on my back as my wife attempted to attach the U-bolt was ... unsuccessful. I ended up having her loosely attach the other bolts. With the hitch now supported, attaching the U-bolt was easy.

Most of my time was spent torquing the bolts.

I thought removing the rubber muffler attachment grommets would be difficult. However, I first sprayed those with STP Son Of A Gun, and they popped on/off easily.

This was one of the few projects that went better than I expected and in less time. And, of course, the folks at HitchSource were great. Product arrived within 3 days of ordering, just as promised.

The hitch arrived 3 days after placing my electronic order. Installation on the Honda CR-V couldn't be easier. I sprayed WD-40 on the muffler hangers and easily lowered the muffler out of the way. The hitch fit perfectly and I had everything installed and the muffler back in place in under 15 minutes (by myself).
I also purchased and installed the T-Connector wiring harness. This was simple too. Took less than 10 minutes.
Be sure to view the installation video prior to starting the project. It helps to make everything easy.
I couldn't be happier with my experience with HitchSource.com

A great hitch, well built and super easy to install like the all the reviewers say. Took me 20 min, required simple tools, and a buddy to hold things in place.

BIG TIP: The rubber muffler hangers are super easy to remove if you spray them with WD40 first. Give 'em a soak, and then gently use a pry bar to pop them off. This avoids the wrestling, cutting, and general cursing other posters have experienced.

Installation was a breeze. Everything lined up perfectly. Installation stated 40 minutes to install but it really only took about 20 minutes. Hardest part was removing the first rubber muffler hanger, as it was 30 degrees out and the rubber wasn't as flexible as it normally is. A little patience and it finally slid off. Do as the instructions state, loosely hang the hitch from the u-bolt and nuts, then you're free to install the remaining bolts. Then tighten the u-bolt nuts. Looks great. If you have a socket set, you can do it.

The trailer hitch went on without a hitch but make sure if you were trying to match up to an existing tow bar receiver from a used motorhome you bought (like me) that you don't make the same mistake I did and not get the quick disconnect set too.

Thanks... The hitch arrived quickly and installation was painless. The only glitch was my existing 5/8 hitch pin would not slide through the hole. Since it's only for a bike rack, I purchased a 1/2 pin.

I installed the Curt hitch and wiring kit on my 2011 CRV, on October 6, 2010.
The HitchSource.com is awesome, the service was non to compare with, ordering was simple and easy, shipment was fast. I highly recommend them to any one who wants do business with trust and confidence.

The Curt hitch is well engineered, sturdy, precise fit, aesthetically pleasing, easy to install, and it is just perfect. One can not ask for any better than Curt hitch. On top of that it is priced right. Do not need any drilling, cutting, pushing and shoving, and no special tools. It fits so well it is scary. The wiring harness is a bit involved because of the removal of interior trims.

I am very happy with the HitchSource.com and Curt.

This is a very nice hitch. It is solid, well constructed and fit well into the CR-V's pre-drilled holes in the frame. The installation is straightforward. With 5 minutes of help just to balance the weight until the bolts are started it went on in 20 minutes. One tip -- on my 2009 Honda CR-V the left or driver's side rubber muffler hanger was very hard to remove. Unlike the right side, the hanger post on the muffler and the post on the body are at right angles. The part is $5.07 from Honda. I bought a new one, sliced off the old one, sprayed silicone on the posts and slipped on the new one.

The Trailer Hitch arrived very timely at my front door and took me, by myself, about 20 minutes to put on my 2010 Honda CRV. I first dropped the muffler down using my hands to free it from the rubber holders. I used my knees to help prop it up to the u-bolt and attached it there loosely. I then attached the 4 side bolts and tightened everything down. The muffler popped back on as easy as it came off. I don't intend to tow anything big with my Honda CRV, it will be used strictly for hauling bikes. This hitch matches up nicely with the Softride Access Dura Hitch Bike Rack 1.25 / 2" receiver. I already got the comment from someone that I bought the Cadillac of bike racks and I agree, it is nice!

Once I had the right tools the hitch was easy to install. Having a car lift or set of ramps and 2 people will make the job that much easier. Tip: pry the rubber muffler clamps off with a large screw driver.

by eric cross | Date Added: Friday, June 12, 2009

Super easy to install, it's certainly a 2 man job but only to help hold the hitch in place while it's fastened. Getting the exhaust off and back on was simple, and all the holes lined up beautifully. The U bolt was tight on the hook from the car, but it goes on enough of the way where ratcheting the rest of the way easily tightens it enough. Be careful here actually not to tighten too much, the plate in the center where the U bolt fastens in can bend if you over do it. The Ubolt is for stability, not for towing, so tighten it enough, work on the sides, and then retighten at the end.

All in all, from opening the box to admiring the job took maybe 45 mins to an hour...a good chunk of time of which was actually spent cleaning the stickers off.

Meanwhile, great product so far, bike rack fit perfectly, it's solid construction/installation, and it looks great with the car too, not out of place.

Outstanding trailer hitch! Shipping was much quicker than expected, and installation was maybe 30 minutes, by myself. A little soap and water on the muffler mounts (outboard first, they are different) worked wonders. I really liked not having to cut into my CRV bumper. I did take the bumper off previously to install the wiring for a trailer hitch - that's not included in the 30 minute install time as some folks won't even need the wiring.

I now have a great way to carry bikes without trying to stuff them inside.

The CURT class III is a perfect fit and hitch for my CRV. From start to finish it only took 30 minutes to install. That's right - 30 minutes and that includes pick-up of all tools. Spray the rubber muffler hangers with WD-40. It will slip out easily.
The 12mm deep socket is needed for the muffler-tailpipe removal ( use a 3/8" ratchet, a little tight but do the bottom first and then the top one ). Place hitch on the hydralic jack and lift to position. Place the 11/16 bolts in place and tigthen to spec.
Electric impact wrench makes the job easy.
Hitch Source is great and very efficient. Both of my orders came in quickly and in just perfect shape. Two thumbs up for me.

Better than I expected. Saved a lot of money. My CR-V 08 is a little difFerent from others I suppose. It took me some time to figure out how to lower the muffler. In fact, the muffler is affixed to the frame va rubber hangers, not nuts and bolts. The other thing is you will need two persons to do the job.

After getting (3) ridiculous high quotes to install a hitch on my new 2008 CRV,I decided to try it myself. It was easy. I had the Curt hitch on in 25 minutes. Dropping the exhaust sounded scary but that was easy to put back together in just a couple of minutes. I sprayed some undercoating on the frame and sandwiched it in before installing the hitch bolts to help with moisture. Very happy with quality of hitch and ease of install.

Wow!, what a snap.
My wife just bought a new '08 Honda CR-V. I thought, "how about a hitch?". After receiving this CURT Hitch, I looked under her car and thought, "not too bad".

I just had to figure how to remove the muffler. In fact, that was the hardest part. The muffler bolts were torqued on so extremely tight, I had to use a pipe extension on my three eighths drive ratchet handle to crack it free. A shot of WD-40 on the two upper muffler hangers helped ease off the rubber grommet from the hanger.
Just follow the easy to read instructions included with this sturdy product.
Total time about 30 minutes not knowing what tools I'd need. To repeat the job would take 5-10 minutes using a drill motor to unscrew and rescrew muffler bolts and Hitch hardware bolts. The only limitation I have about towing anything would be due to the capacity of the 4 banger engine on the CR-V.

The hitch went on my Honda CRV easily, with little difficulty. The main difficulty was dropping the muffler to get access to the mounting holes above the muffler. Watch out for the metal heat shield on top of the muffler, it has sharp edges. I also recommend applying a rubber lube to the muffler bushings to get them to slide off the pins.

I recently purchased this hitch for my 2008 CR-V and it is almost as good as sliced bread. I got the hitch a few days after the order was placed, removed it from the box and I installed it in about 20 minutes. It was that easy, drop down the muffler bolt in the hitch put muffler back up and in minutes I have a very nice looking hitch that tucks up very nicley under the CR-V and does not hang way down low like most other hitches I have seen. Very nicely done. Thanks Bill

This hitch fit our CR-V perfectly and looks great. When you start to lower the muffler, a little dishsoap and water makes the temporary removal of the muffler mounting pins from the rubber bushings much easier! Just wipe the solution on the pin tips and they slip right out.

Also, prior to positioning the hitch, be sure to clean the mounting holes on the frame and test fit the bolts ... a little grit or a small blob of undercoating in the threads isn't something you want to discover later!

Great hitch for my 2008 CR-V. Very sturdy. EZ install - hardest part was removing the muffler hangers, a little spray silicone helped. Only issues.... slight contact on the muffler at times, seems to be diminishing over time. I wish the label would have been placed in a less conspicuous location, I removed the label with a hair drier and some goo gone, no problem. Quick shipping.

Installed on 08 CR-V. The hitch was slightly scuffed due to shipping damage by UPS. Quick shipping, hitch ordered 12/10/07, received and installed 12/12/07. Hardest part of install was lowering the muffler. A couple of shots of silicone spray helped especially on the "inside" mount. Easy install, done within 30 minutes. Rugged appearance, VERY sturdy, perfect fit. Exhaust now seems to have a little more "rumble" at idle, I don't think any contact is occurring but tolerances are close. Did anyone else notice that the extra weight of the hitch on the tail of the vehicle caused reduced ride motions or is it just me/my imagination? Other than the need for better packaging, please place the white sticker identifying the manufacturer/model # of the hitch on the inside of one of the frame mounts so it will not be visible after installation. I am going to use a blowdrier to heat the label and see if it can be removed.
