Installing the Class I hitch on my Jetta Wagan 2002 went well, result is solid. However it took me more like 120 minutes not 40 minutes as advertised. I recommend the first bolt you start with is the larger one on the right side that uses the nut holder and it starts the allignment with the Jetta frame and the existing hole behind the standard built in toe hook. I had to cut off about 3/4 inch of the black vinyl bumper cover underneath all the way across so the hitch could easily clear the bumper edge. The left side (4 hole plate) which hugs the tire well goes up very very tight, especially because of the thick undercoating, so I found by putting a jack under the hitch and cranking it up slowly pushes the plate up the side nicely. Then I drilled 1/8th inch pilot holes through the plate as a template through the tire well wall. Then I used a 3/8 inch drill and drilled the holes more easily from inside the tire well using the pilot holes to guide me. Same deal on the right side of the hitch. Drill a 1/8th inch pilot hole from underneath the car straigth up into the wheel well, and then drill the 3/8 full size hole straight down using the pilot hole starting from inside the wheel well. Then all the bolts went in, tightened it all up and the trailer hitch was solid.
