Peter J Sarno Jr - 05/20/2011 Rating: The installation was between a Diesel pusher Motorhome and a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The Tow Defender is well made and simple to install. The instructions are straight forward and clear. Although have not put it to the test it appears it will function as designed and give really good protection from debris. Our Diesel exhaust is out the side of the Motorhome so we don't have a heat issue. If you have a rear exhaust it will need a downward pointing exhaust tip installed to deflect the heat away from the Defender. This is well spelled out in the instructions.
Steve Osterhus - 09/21/2009 Rating: Purchased the Blue Ox version of the Tow Defender and it works well as advertised. The install instructions say to move the RV side back toward the RV until tight, then go away from the RV 1" to allow for some slack for "tight" turns. If you do this the rock shield, when stowed, interferes with the Blue Ox tow bar assembly when trying to stow it up and away to the side as designed. Had to move the Rock shield back to tight so the Blue Ox tow bar assembly could be stored without physically interfering with the rock shied assembly. So far no problems with "tight" turns.
