Finally, there's a good hitch solution for the Scion xB! We've been getting tons of requests for this hitch and now that it's finally here, we can say that it rocks. CURT Manufacturing did another fine job in designing this hitch specifically for the Scion xB. The hitch tucks under the rear bumper so that, when the ball mount is removed, you can hardly tell that the hitch is there. The hitch has CURT Manufacturing's best in class, black mirror finish, powder coat paint job and is robotically welded for a clean, repeatable finish.

Now you have a solution for hauling a small boat, jet skis, hitch mounted bike racks, and cargo racks.

This hitch was fairly easy to install. As others have said, it is a trick to get the hitch over the exhaust. I managed to do it on my own, with the rear of the car up on some rhino ramps. Pull down on the exhaust (I ended up lifting myself off the ground) with one hand on the pipe just behind the muffler. Use your other hand to snake the hitch up and around the pipe. Leave the opposite end on the ground to assist in getting the hitch through, and use one of your legs to change the pitch as needed. Other than that, it's pretty easy!
I haven't been able to tow anything with it yet, but should be picking up a trailer soon. I've read that it's a good idea to change out the front diff oil and the transmission oil (manual) once in a while... Read More

I installed my hitch on a 05 scion xb. The hitch is really easy to install. If your car has tow notches you will need to remove them. Then install the four bolts that hold the hitch to your frame, torque and your done. Having a vehicle lift would be helpful, but anybody could do this in their garage.

Took two of us to install on the xB. Was able to snake past the exhaust system by pulling down on the exhaust pipe and stretching the rubber support piece. Installed one side and then levered over the hitch to get the opposite side bolts started. Looked sharp once installed.

This is a very high quality hitch but the installation doesn't work quite as easily as described because you can't really do it on the ground very easily - a rack works much better. It is a very good idea to plan to drop the rear muffler a little bit to get the hitch to fit over the tailpipe. I suppose you could squeeze it in if you were willing to put some force on pushing down on the tailpipe and bending the rear bumper cover but, I didn't want to do that.
Still, it was one of the easier hitches to install and the fit and finish are excellent. My only complaint was that the instructions were just a bit misleading or you have to be willing to put more force onto 2 parts of the car that I don't recommend forcing than is described. Read More

The hitch went on with out a problem. Easy to install. Took me less then 20 minutes.
The only problem was with the box that the hitch was shipped in. It was torn up. Need a stronger box and maybe foam the ends. To keep the hitch from being bent or losing the parts.
But all in all it was good.
