The fishing tool works well, IF you orient it exactly as the instruction picture shows and you kink the wire as described.
After I pulled the bolt through, I used masking tape to hold the bolt in place, otherwise it's easy to inadvertently push the bolt into the channel.
Hardly any heat shield trimming is required.

Installed this hitch last night. Took about an hour and a half but would have been shorter if I had read the intructions correctly. Once I sorted them out the install went smoothly. Did need to trim the heat shield as indicated in the instructions. Need two people when doing the actual install part (after the placing the bolts in the frame etc). This is a quality hitch and the fitment is perfect. Bolts up twice on both sides of the frame and in the middle. Looks plenty strong for my bike rack :) Thank you for a great item and quick shipping too!

Excellent product I'd recomended to anyone. It fits right and is right up next to the lower part of your bumper. It doens't look bad and was the best price I found after looking around . Remember this is a Curt hitch , it has 2 bolts that hold the hitch to the chassis which makes it more stable. The only thing is that you might have to trim the heat shield from the muffler. I didn't do it and it works just fine so far .

This product is pure QUALITY! I am very happy with it. The install was strait forward. No one like to fish bolts through framework, however the tool they provide did the job with just a little patience and determination. It did take about two hours to install but that was mostly due to my over thinking. I would be able to to a second one in half the time. The instructions said I would have to trim the heat shield and the under body panel, yet I was able to fit everything back into position without any trimming. I did have to leave three bolts out.
One thing that the instructions did not tell you... The clearance on the hitch as you lift it up and try to clear the frame is very close. I found it easier to remove one of the four bolts... Read More
