About the controls
On the brake, there is an LED display, complete with one set up button, a break away plugin, manual adjustment for sensitivity, on/off switch and an auxillary 12-volt connection.

Great product - TRULY portable (unlike some competitor's units). No wiring or tapping into towed vehicle's electrical power or braking circuits. Simply place on floor of toad, plug in power to unswitched 12VDC receptacle, and power up Patriot following display prompts.
Ability to adjust braking from motorhome a real plus also!

I am using the Patriot on a 2010 Taurus behind my Dutchstar 41'. This thing is awesome. Easy set up and works as advertised.
I purchased the Blue Ox Base Plate and Patriot from Hitchsource. Great company to do bussiness with.

This is the first braking system I've used. I am towing a Honda Pilot; about 4500 pounds. I saw that state law requires me to have a braking system in 49 states (not worried about Hawaii). The Patrriot was easy to install, although installing the break-away device on the Pilot required some exploring for a practical place.
I really like the remote monitor. It was a good teaching device to fine the proper setting. The Patriot is all-electric (draws 2 amps) and is light weight.
My only dislike with a braking system is that I have to have the Pilot ignition in accessory mode, ready to tow, before installing the Patriot. With the door open, the Pilot warning system is beeping loudly while I'm trying to install the Patriot (not the... Read More

My first experience with car towing and assisted braking and I was nervous. The system operated flawlessly with a light on the remote telling me when the assisted braking came on. It is very smooth with no jerking. A great invention.
